Star Bluetooth Printer
Learn how to set up and use Star Bluetooth printers
Star Micronics Bluetooth printer works with the following HitPay POS set up :
- HitPay app on iOS
It supports the following paper receipt dimensions:
- Paper width: 80mm
- Paper roll diameter: 80mm max
Refer to the user manual provided in the printer box for instructions on setting up the printer, charging the printer, and loading paper into the printer.
How to connect your Star TSP650 Bluetooth Printer?
Step 1 : Connect printer to iPad / iPhone
- Do a self-test (Hold feed button while turning power on)
- Check the BD Name & Auto Connection setting
- To pair the printer, with iPad, hold down pair button for 5 seconds or until the green light flashes once. It will flash consistently and you will have 60 seconds to pair the printer with the iPad.
- Go to Settings > Bluetooth > search for “Star Micronics”. Once appears click to connect
- The Auto Connect feature of the printer will allow printer to reconnect with the last printer it was connected to in the event the iPad leaves range, iPad turned off or Printer turned off.
- To enable / disable Auto Connect feature, hold down the “RST” button at the back of the printer for a few seconds. Printer will reset itself and print out a confirmation page of the new setting.
Step 2 : Connect printer within the HitPay app
- Go to Settings > Printer > Connect Printer
- Select Printer Model > Star Printer
- Select Connection Type = “Bluetooth”
- Discover Printers
- Once discovered select the printer and select the printer model (e.g : TSP 650T)
- Click on “Test Printer Connection”
- Save

How do I troubleshoot my Star Micronics printer?
Please check that you have these basic requirements:
- Your HitPay POS app is up to date.
- Your device’s operating system is up to date.
- Your device has Bluetooth activated.
- Check that printer paper is correctly installed and that the status indicator light is a solid blue color.
- Unpair your device and receipt printer.
- Return your receipt printer to its factory settings.
- Pair your device with the receipt printer.
- Restart the printer.
- Open the device’s Settings.
- Tap the Bluetooth menu option and confirm that the Star Micronics printer displays as Not connected.
- Tap the printer to connect to it.
- When the printer displays as Connected, restart it again. When the printer turns on, it should display briefly as Not connected, and then as Connected.
- If the printer doesn’t connect automatically when you restart it for the second time, then activate auto-connect.
- Test the printer by printing a test receipt.
- If you still have trouble using the receipt printer after trying these steps, then contact Shopify Support.
